Research
Vascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Well-known risk factors initiate the pathogenesis of vascular disease: high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, or stress. As a consequence of sustained vascular disease irreversible organ damage of the heart, kidney or brain results.
Research interests focus on the relationship between the diverse risk factors of vascular disease, disturbed signaling and end-organ damage. Information on disturbed signal transduction mechanisms in vascular disease is required to delineate novel targets and strategies for therapeutic intervention.
